Hey guys! Anyone who's gone through an approved medical commission for signing on knows what a stress it is, especially if contract deadlines are tight. Dental work, EKG, tests — they can reject you over any little thing.
My advice for newcomers: don't try to hide serious health issues, but don't volunteer unnecessary information to the doctors either. If you know your blood pressure spikes from nervousness — take a mild sedative an hour beforehand. Make sure to get your teeth fixed before going to the medical center — everything shows up on the panoramic X-ray, and they'll just send you back to redo it.
And most importantly — check the medical center's license! If the shipowner requires a specific certificate (for example, Oil & Gas UK or Dutch P&I), a regular clinic won't cut it. Where are you guys getting checked in Vladivostok or Odessa? Share some trusted places where they don't hassle you but do everything by the book.
