How to apply for a job on SeaJobs.pro
Applying takes one click — but first the crewing manager needs a CV to read. You can either upload the CV you already have and let us fill your profile from it, or fill the profile in by hand. Either way you only do it once.
Two ways to get ready
Both lead to the same place: a complete seafarer profile that is sent with every application.
Upload the CV you already have
Have a CV in PDF or DOCX? Upload it and we read it for you — rank, contacts, sea service, certificates and documents are pulled out and written into your profile automatically. The profile is saved, so you never have to type it again.

- 3Check what was recognised and correct anything that came out wrong — you stay in control of every field.
- 4Save. Your profile is ready, and you can download a clean PDF CV in four templates whenever you need one.
Fill the profile in by hand
No CV yet? Nothing is lost — fill the profile in yourself and the portal builds the CV for you. It takes a few minutes, and after that every application is a single click.
- 1Fill in your personal details: name, rank, phone and e-mail.
- 2Add your sea service — vessel, type, rank, and the dates you signed on and off.
- 3Add your certificates and documents with their expiry dates, plus visas if you hold any.
- 4Set your readiness date so crewing managers know when you can join.
What your profile needs
Only two things are strictly required — the rest is optional, but every one of them makes your CV stronger in the crewing manager's inbox.
- Phone numberRequired
Crewing managers call before they write. Without a phone number an application cannot be sent.
- Sea service — at least one recordRequired
The vessel, its type, your rank and your sign-on / sign-off dates. This is the first thing a crewing manager looks at.
- Rank and full nameRecommended
Filled in at registration, but check the spelling matches your documents.
- CertificatesRecommended
STCW, GMDSS, tanker endorsements and the rest, with their expiry dates — an expired certificate is the most common reason an application is set aside.
- Documents and visasRecommended
Seaman's book, passport, US visa, Schengen — a valid visa often decides who gets called first.
- Readiness dateRecommended
When you can join. Vacancies have joining dates, and this is what they are matched against.

Applying to a vacancy
Once the profile is complete, this is the whole process.

Find a vacancy
Filter the job board by rank, vessel type and fleet. Salaries are shown up front — you never have to write to find out what a position pays.

Open it and read the terms
Vessel, contract length, joining date, salary and requirements are all on the page, together with our own comparison of that salary against the rest of the portal.

Press Apply
The button sits directly under the job description. If anything is still missing from your profile, the form tells you exactly what — and lets you upload a CV right there.

Add a cover letter (optional)
A few lines about why you fit this vessel. It is not required, but it is what separates you from an identical CV.

Send
Your full CV goes to the crewing agency — by e-mail, or into their SeaJobs.pro dashboard if they have an account.
After you apply
Nothing disappears into a void — every application stays visible to you.
Track the status
Pending, viewed, accepted or rejected — the status of every application is in your dashboard, and you get a notification when it changes.
Answer messages
Crewing agencies can write to you directly through the platform. Replies come to you, not to a middleman.
Keep the profile fresh
Renew a certificate, finish a contract, change your readiness date — update it once and every future application carries the new version.
Never pay for a job
A genuine crewing agency is paid by the shipowner, never by you. Nobody on SeaJobs.pro may ask you for money for a vacancy, a medical, a contract, training or a visa. If a vacancy or a message asks for payment, do not send anything — report it to us and we will take the posting down.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to pay to apply?
No. Registration, your profile, the CV builder and every application are free for seafarers, and always will be. If anyone asks you for money for a job, a medical, a contract or a visa — that is a scam, and you can report the vacancy to us.
What exactly must be filled in before I can apply?
Two things: a phone number in your profile and at least one sea service record. The crewing manager receives your CV together with the application, so it has to show how to reach you and what you have sailed on. Everything else — certificates, documents, readiness date — is optional but makes your CV much stronger.
What happens after I press Apply?
Your full CV — contacts, documents and visas, certificates, sea service and your cover letter — is formatted and sent to the crewing agency. If the company has an account on SeaJobs.pro it also lands in their dashboard; if the vacancy came with a crewing e-mail, it goes straight to that address. Either way the application appears in your own list, where you follow its status.
I don't have a CV file. Can I still apply?
Yes. Fill your profile in by hand — rank, contacts, sea service, certificates — and the portal builds the CV for you. You can then download it as a PDF in any of four templates and use it outside SeaJobs.pro as well.
Do I have to fill everything in again for each vacancy?
No. The profile is saved once and reused for every application — the next one takes a single click. Just keep it current: update your certificates when they are renewed and your readiness date when your plans change.
