Ocean Connectivity: How's Internet on Ships in 2026?

Hey seafarers! Remember those days when we bought cards for 10 megabytes just to send a message home, and caught a satellite once every three days? Things are changing now: many ships are actively installing Starlink Maritime — it's night and day, you can have video calls with your family right from your cabin in the middle of the Atlantic.

But there are still stingy companies that either throttle traffic to 100 MB per week or block everything except messengers. Tell us, how's connectivity working out for you on your contracts? What's on board — Starlink, VSAT, or are you still stuck with "Inmarsat by vouchers"? What SIM cards do you pick up in ports so you don't go broke on roaming?
