Strait of Hormuz Shipping Activity Hits Four-Month High

24 June 2026

Maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz saw a significant rebound on June 22, reaching its highest daily volume since the conflict between Iran and the US/Israel began on February 28.
According to data from AXSMarine, there were 42 confirmed vessel transits on that day, consisting of 32 outbound movements and 10 inbound vessels (including four LNG carriers). This surge in activity follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the US and Iran.
Key metrics from the recovery period include:
Daily Average (June 18–22): Crossings increased to 29.2 per day.
Daily Average (June 1–17): Crossings were recorded at just 4.9 per day.
Context: While this represents the most robust recovery window since the conflict started, it still reflects only 27% of the pre-conflict baseline of approximately 110 daily crossings.
